Ovation Breadwinner - 1972
Ovation Breadwinner
Purchased at Wonderland music in January 1973 for $325.00 It has a very low serial # 0000322. I looked at it hanging on the wall for a long time. It was such an odd shape. One day I asked Clarence to play it and I was so impressed that I bought it immediatly. Once I started playing this guitar I couldn't put it down. It has a 2 octive neck that plays like glass and it was the first production guitar to have the FET active preamp switch. It is powered by 9v batteries. The body is mahogony and is coated with a white resin matte finish. It has Toroidal contoured-cover pickups with 12 individual polepieces, and six rectangular, adjustable screws. It has a master volume and tone control with three-way select and a midrange bypass filter. You can adjust the controls and get the growl of a Gibson or a "tin can" Tele. Great guitar!
